Joy in the Building: Hidahl's Math Club is Here

Build it and they will come. That’s the spirit of Hidahl’s first Math Club which unofficially began March 9, 2017, at 3:00pm. Math club's attendance has steadily increased to twenty-eight active members. Students keep asking about the math club, and membership will increase up to thirty students. Students in grades first through fifth enjoy the engaging format of the club. The club is geared to foster the joy of mathematics and will emphasize the importance of math in everyday life as well as creative endeavors. Speaking of creativity, students can’t wait for their turn to program the club’s mascots, two robots, nicknamed Husky and Hidy. A special thanks goes out to the California Mathematics Council and Dr. Viji Sundar for funding the robots and other supplies for the club. Hidahl’s Math Club meets each Thursday from 3:00-4:00pm for the remainder of the school year. Students discovering the joy of mathematics is our “Field of Dreams.”
